1. Introduction

Hifz Course Online (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides 1:1 online Quran Hifz (memorisation) tuition to students in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, and beyond. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit our website or enquire about our courses, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights available to you.

This policy applies to hifzcourse.com and to communications with us via WhatsApp, email, or any enquiry form linked from our website. By using our website or contacting us to enquire about lessons, you agree to the collection and use of information in line with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

We only collect information that is necessary to respond to enquiries and provide our tutoring service. This may include:

  • Contact details you provide when messaging us — such as your name, phone number (via WhatsApp), and email address.
  • Enquiry details — information you choose to share about the student’s age, current Quran reading level, preferred schedule, country/time zone, and preferred tutor (e.g. male or female teacher).
  • Communication records — the content of messages exchanged with us via WhatsApp or email, kept so we can follow up on your enquiry or ongoing enrolment.
  • Website usage data — general, non-identifying technical information such as browser type, device type, and pages visited, which helps us understand how our website is used.

We do not collect payment card details directly on our website. Any payment arrangements for course fees are discussed and processed separately through the payment method agreed with you (for example, bank transfer or a third-party payment processor), and are subject to that provider’s own privacy and security terms.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above only for legitimate purposes connected to running our tutoring service, including to:

  • Respond to enquiries and questions about our courses and pricing;
  • Schedule and coordinate free trial lessons and ongoing classes;
  • Match students with an appropriate tutor based on age, level, and preferences;
  • Send weekly progress updates (the “Hifz Roadmap”) to the parent or adult student;
  • Maintain records of enrolment and communication for administrative and support purposes;
  • Improve our website and course offering based on general usage patterns.

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Third-Party Services

We rely on a small number of third-party services to operate our business. These providers process certain information on our behalf and maintain their own privacy policies:

ServicePurposeData Involved
WhatsApp (Meta)Primary messaging and enquiry channelPhone number, message content
Email providerEmail correspondence and progress updatesEmail address, message content
Video conferencing platformDelivering live 1:1 lessonsName, video/audio during lessons
Website hosting providerHosting and serving our websiteStandard technical/server logs

Because WhatsApp is operated by Meta, any messages you send us through it are also subject to WhatsApp’s own Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review it if you have concerns about how WhatsApp itself handles your data.

5. Children’s Privacy

Many of our students are children, and we take this responsibility seriously. Our courses for children are always enrolled, scheduled, and paid for by a parent or legal guardian — we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child without parental involvement.

  • All initial enquiries and enrolment communication take place with the parent or guardian, not the child directly.
  • During lessons, a child’s tutor may observe the child via video call for teaching purposes only; we do not record lessons for children without the parent’s knowledge and consent.
  • Parents may ask us at any time what information we hold about their child and may request its deletion, subject to what we need to retain for legitimate administrative or legal purposes (see Section 8).
  • We do not knowingly collect information from children for marketing or advertising purposes, and we do not permit third-party advertising on pages intended for children.

If you believe your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us using the details in Section 11 and we will address it promptly.

6. Cookies & Similar Technologies

Our website may use a limited number of cookies or similar technologies for essential functionality (such as remembering your cookie preferences) and, where used, basic anonymised analytics to understand general visitor traffic. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles of visitors. Most browsers allow you to control or disable cookies through their settings; disabling cookies should not prevent you from browsing our website, though some features may not function as intended.

7. Data Retention & Security

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy — typically for the duration of a student’s enrolment plus a reasonable period afterward for administrative, tax, or legal record-keeping purposes. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we hold from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse, though no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you are located, you may have certain rights over your personal information under applicable law:

  • United Kingdom — under the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018, you have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal data, and to object to certain processing.
  • United States — depending on your state of residence, applicable state privacy laws (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act) may give you rights to know what information is collected about you and to request its deletion.
  • Canada — under PIPEDA, you have the right to access personal information we hold about you and to request corrections where it is inaccurate.
  • Australia — under the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to access and correct personal information we hold about you.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 11. We will respond to legitimate requests within a reasonable timeframe and in accordance with applicable law.

9. International Data Transfers

Because we serve students across the UK, USA, Canada, and Australia, and use service providers such as WhatsApp and video conferencing platforms that operate internationally, your information may be processed in a country other than the one in which you reside. Where this occurs, we rely on the safeguards those providers have in place and take reasonable steps to ensure your information continues to be handled in line with this policy.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date at the top. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

Please note: this policy is provided as a general description of our data practices and is not a substitute for independent legal advice. If you require a policy tailored precisely to your business structure, payment processors, or specific regulatory obligations, we recommend having it reviewed by a qualified legal professional in your jurisdiction.
